Konami Gaming and Hasbro Inc. have reached an agreement that will allow Konami to develop a Dungeons and Dragons slot machine that will be based on Hasbro’s popular Dungeons and Dragons brand. While known more for their presence in the video game world, Konami has produced several slot machines of note, including Money in the Bank, Aloha Gold, Coinopolis, and Lucky Dice.
Dungeons and Dragons is famed the world over as the platform which brought roleplaying to the masses in the form of a pen-and-paper game, and arguably led to the creation of the video game roleplaying industry, which Konami has also delved into. The brand now has several other entertainment products based off of it, including several book series, numerous video and computer games, an online role playing game, and two movies, as well as countless references in popular culture.
Dungeons and Dragons is all about players using their wits and imagination to overcome obstacles, while experiencing both awe-inspiring and harrowing encounters. It is that spirit of adventure and the search for treasures long buried in the depths of dungeons that Konami will try to capture with their slot machines.

We plan to utilize those attributes to create a diverse product line which appeals to a wide variety of slot players.”
This will not be the first Dungeons and Dragons slot machine, however. IGT released a 20-line online video slots game called Dungeons and Dragons: Fortress of Fortune, back in 2009. That game mimicked the Dungeons and Dragons experience as closely as a slots machine possibly could by offering players side mission bonus rounds where they could hunt for treasure and defeat enemies to pick up free spins and other bonuses. Battles with enemies in the bonus rounds even involved rolls of the classic d20 die to determine outcomes. The game was also brought to life with impressive graphics and music.
Konami will have a tall order ahead of them surpassing that offering from IGT, but if there’s any company we’d bet on to do just that, it would be Konami Gaming.
